Irony, Kismet, and Pure Dumb Luck have a threesome
So, by the strangest of chances, after a six year involuntary hiatus, I check my site and see that my domain is still active o.O
Holy Cats! I must have registered the domain a long time. Well, I do a whois, and I see that my domain expires on 3/12/2015. At the time, it was just 2 short weeks away.
Well, unfortunately, the godaddy email address that this site was registered to just so happened to be based on a domain that I no longer have, that went the way of the trash bin a long time ago, so when i try to reset my password, the reset email is delivered to the ether. And Microsoft had deleted all my mail, so I didn't know what my godaddy account number was. Not only that, but when I called Godaddy to get help accessing my account, they wanted the credit card or bank number from all that long time ago.
It was time to dig through the boxes. Luckily, clutter is a genetic trait, and my family saved everything from my life while I was inside, so it only took a trip to Mom's to dig around inside a cramped storage shed and find an old check register from a bank that no longer exists to find the information I need.
So, I spent just under six long years in lockup, and manage to get out just in time to save my domain.
Disaster drives the story.
